My Story

Hi, I’m Maren Bowers—the heart behind Essential Maren. This isn’t just a business; it’s a reflection of my lifelong passion for helping children thrive. I created this space to share the heart behind my work, and how my personal and professional journey led me here. For over a decade, I’ve dedicated myself to nurturing children and supporting families through hands-on, individualized care. But for me, caregiving has always been more than a job—it’s a calling.

I’ve always been drawn to working with kids, especially those with unique needs. That passion led me to complete my Occupational Therapy Assistant degree where I focused on pediatric dysfunction and early childhood development. I also hold certifications in CPR, first aid, and have taken courses in child development, nutrition, and safety.

Before stepping fully into caregiving, I worked as an optometric vision therapist under a board-certified developmental optometrist. There, I helped children strengthen their sensory and motor skills through activities that support the brain and body working together. That experience gave me a deeper appreciation for how children grow—and how much they can thrive when given the right tools and support.

After many years in Chicago, I recently relocated to Central Wisconsin to plant new roots and bring my services to a community that values connection, trust, and whole-child care. Whether I’m helping a child with daily routines, creating a sensory-friendly play experience, or just being a calm, consistent presence—I care deeply about what I do, and the people I do it for.
